We’re excited to announce our endorsement of one of our longtime leaders, Eddy Morales for US Congress. Over the past six years, I’ve known and worked with Eddy in Gresham. I’ve seen his optimism and diplomacy. He consistently navigates the toughest issues with imagination and pragmatism, delivering results and building community. As a councilor, Eddy has created multi-generational affordable housing, expanded innovative public safety solutions, preserved green spaces, and advocated for underserved populations. Now, he is running to succeed Congressman Earl Blumenauer in the 3rd Congressional District.
We first supported Eddy in his successful campaign as Gresham City Councilor in 2018. A grassroots organizer, progressive fighter, and East County Rising cofounder, Eddy has spent his career engaging our community in the political process and making government more responsive, inclusive, and accountable. This May 21, we have the opportunity for one of East County’s own to represent our region in Congress.
In Congress, we know he will stand up for working people by fighting for reproductive rights, job creation, housing, climate reform, and a great education for all kids. Eddy is a supportive and understanding advocate, always seeking harmony and peace in his interactions with everyone from all walks of life.
