As we approach the November 5th, 2024 General Election, East County Rising is proud to announce our endorsements, available at eastcountyrising.org/2024-general-endorsements. These candidates and ballot measures represent the leadership, values, and progressive vision that our community needs to thrive. Share our upcoming digital voter guides on social media and drop by our Gresham/Rockwood Office to pick up print slate cards to give to neighbors!
Over the past few months, dozens of community leaders participated in our Endorsement Panel interviews with candidates at every level of government. We are deeply grateful to these volunteers who dedicated their time and expertise to evaluate which candidates would best serve East County and Oregon as a whole. Their thoughtful recommendations have informed our Board’s final endorsements, ensuring that we prioritize candidates and measures that align with our values of equity, inclusion, and community empowerment.
Our focus in this election includes highly contested races and important local measures, such as:
- Chris Gorsek for State Senate District 25
- Hoa Nguyen for State House District 48
- Zach Hudson for State House District 49
- Ricki Ruiz for State House District 50
- Jacquenette Josefe McIntire and Jack Hollis for Gresham City Council
- The Gresham Simple Majority Measure – a critical step towards repealing outdated barriers to democracy.
These endorsements come at a crucial moment, as East County is undergoing significant political shifts. The 2024 election represents an opportunity to elect leaders who will prioritize transportation justice, equitable tax reform, and address systemic challenges facing our community.
Since our founding six years ago, East County Rising PAC has grown into a powerhouse for mobilizing campaigns and transforming the political landscape of East Multnomah County. Our organizing has helped shift the balance of power from conservative, white-dominated leadership to a more diverse, forward-thinking coalition led by women, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC leaders. In past election cycles, we have endorsed and supported candidates who won 68 out of 79 races, and this year we are poised to continue that success.
We encourage our community to engage in this process by volunteering with our endorsed candidates and donating to East County Rising PAC to support our work. Donations up to $20 from Portland residents are matched 9-to-1 through the city’s Small Donor Elections program, making your contribution go even further.
This election will help shape the future of East County and Oregon, and we are counting on your support to make sure our values and our candidates win on November 5th. Let’s keep building a stronger, more inclusive community together!
